Testosterone is the male hormone. The presence in sufficient levels allows or supports sexual arousal in the male. In some females, lower levels of testosterone are sometimes prescribed, but not as a matter of regular course.
A male does not get immediately aroused when applying testosterone products. It gets absorbed into the bloodstream and residual levels remain.
Some individuals claim they can smell the presence of testosterone, but it is more likely the alcohol vapors as the gel dries. Through association, the smell of the alcohol based gel may become associated with sexual arousal or performance, but that's basic operant conditioning at work. One does not apply the gel (such as Testim) simply to get an erection just prior to attempting sex. It doesn't work that way.
However, after a few months of continual application, you may feel more ready to engage in sex with just a little stimulation or encouragement of arousal.
