I suppose it is used in females to relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Urinary tract infections usually make it difficult and painful to urinate.
It also relaxes your veins and arteries so that blood can more easily pass through them.

A female does not have a prostate! Flomax is not for women. I don't think there is any reason to proscribe this to a woman.
Also, because a woman doesn't have a prostate, she cannot have BPH (enlargement of the prostate).
