I am taking the Quasense- birth control pill. I am new to this form of birth control. The 7 day reminder pills- are they necessary to take; and aren't they just sugar pills? I just want to make sure that if I don't take the 7 day reminder pills- that is no big deal- right? I also want to make sure that if I decide to have sex on that 7 day stretch- do I need to be using another form of back up birth control? Thanks!!! Your advice is much appreciated.

It wont hurt to skip the 7 day reminder pills however it is still a good idea to get in the habit of taking a pill each day because if you lose count of the days and start a pack a day or two too late you open yourself up for a possible pregnancy. No you dont need a back up method if you have unprotected sex during that 7day period. You will be protected from pregnancy but not protected against STD's. Some people choose to still use condoms as they help protect you against sexually transmitted diseases and infections.
