I have been taking paxil for almost three months. I have also been taking lorazepam as needed for anxiety. This was not helping to keep my anxiety at bay. My doctor has now prescribed Amitriptyline to replace my Lorazepam. How much more effective is this than Lorazepam?

Hey rose,
It might work. Unfortunately, it is a trial and error sort of process. What works for one might not work for the next. Trust your doctor on this one. He/She is most familiar with your symptoms and is best to advise. Just be aware of the side effects of amitriptyline:
