Hello everyone! I am taking Celexa now and have went from 20 mg to 10 mg the last few days. I am unsure how long to taper off of my Celexa. I have my Lexapro on hand and I'm not sure how/when to start taking it. Has anyone out there made this switch before? I really need advice please. I have been on Lexapro before and it worked wonders. Lexapro works great with the GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) and that's why I want to start taking it again... Can someone please help!! (:
How do I switch from my Celexa to my Lexapro?

I agree with pamee. You want to get the Lexapro in there to start working or you'll have a period of time you aren't having something for your problems. I just did the same thing going off Effexor and I had no problems at all.
Thank you kaismama. I will try that. I'm just very scared to take the two together. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. (:
My doctor said switch straight from celexa to lexipro. It's the same medicine without the additive. It's ok.
My suggestion would be for you to start the lexapro while at the same time decreasing the celexa. When you decrease the celexa hold for about 2 weeks before doing another decrease..
Thank you pamee. I was concerned about taking the two together. I didn't want to overdose.
You'll be fine, no overdose. Many of us take 2 or more antidepressants with no problem at all, and like kaismama said you want to keep some in you so you don't have any problems.
Wishing you the best outcome!
Thank you so much. You have made me feel so much better about the transition to Lexapro. God Bless and Happy New Year!
You're welcome and thank you for the greeting :). May you have a blessed New Year! God bless
DO NOT TAKE THEM TOGETHER!! It will give you serotonin toxicity. You guys need to check your facts before telling someone something that can hurt them!! You can switch straight over from the celexa to the lexipro.
