My husband and I went to a friends house for football party. So much food and drinks. I'm not a big alchol drinker. BUT..last night I tried several different party cocktails.oh my gosh, not good. Anyways when I came home I took my nightly Trazodone as usual and went to sleep. Woke up at 5 am feeling like a mac truck had ran over my head, and backed up on it a few times. Is this the alchol and Trazodone? I've never drank on it before, so I'm not sure what to expect. Any one whose been there done that, have any insight? Would be greatly appreciated... thanks Taylor

Sometimes, people are warned to avoid alcohol while taking trazodone hydrochloride. This is because alcohol and medicines like trazodone act upon similar chemicals in the brain. The concern is that trazodone will increase the effects of alcohol -- whether this is increasing symptoms of depression or affecting motor skills.
The recommended amount of alcohol allowed when being on Trazodone is: 12 ounces of beer; 5 ounces of wine; 1 ounces of 80-proof whiskey or 1 ounce of 100-proof spirits.
Please do not mix the 2 together, it could aggravate the side effects of the med. take care.
Best wishes!

Btw. I did have more alchol than is recomended. Damn those fruity drinks, that come back to kick your ass
You should be careful when taking meds & alcohol, alcohol in moderate quantities is acceptable but over the limit could lead into problems.
Be well, take care the next time, please.
Most welcome, be careful the next time, please.
Thanks, I totally will. I have a fundraiser to go to(for the humane society) at the end of the month, same thing. Lots of food and drinks. I'm gonna have to skip the cocktails.
Health is above all, specially alcohol, I gave it up after being an addict for over 30 years, now take a few ounces a month.
Take good care of yourself, life is precious!
So true! I'm just now realizing how my social life always includes alchol. Never thought about it before. I commend you on staying sober, after 30 years of bien an addict, that my friend is amazing.
Thanks, and a little more disclosure, I was a heavy smoker around 70 cigarets, and I don't touch it now, gave alcohol & smokes 4.5 years ago, totally.
70 cigarettes? A day? Not to be too nosey, but what was your motivation for giving up cigs and alcohol? ( I'm finally spelling it right) lol

Very good reasons to quit. I'm so glad you were able too. It couldn't have been easy. Thank you for sharing that with me. Have an awsome day! Taylor = )
