The recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C for children over 4 years of age is 60mg per day. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. The body cannot store them. Leftover amounts of the vitamin C leave the body through the urine.

Although 500mg is alot higher than the RDA because the body gets rid of what it doesn't need it is safe to take and may be beneficial.
