Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim - Can a patient be on Trimethoprim and take folic acid tablets ?

Are both compatible or the effect of the antibiotic can be negated by ingestion of folic acid?

It is fine to take sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim with folic acid. There is no known antagonistic effect.
