I keep reading advice on the dose required on Armour thyroid tablets and some people say to go as high as needed to feel better. But my doctor says that the blood test report says that I only need 60mg. I know that going too high can cause problems, but has anyone else gone higher because they still feel tired. It seems some doctors accept that you may need to go higher that the blood test indicates because the blood test is only a guide.
I was going to increase my dose by 30mg per day for four weeks and see how I feel and then increase it the same amount.
Still tired after being on Armour tablets for five years?

Hi DL - Just wanted to quickly say... I'm not on the Armour, but on Synthroid, and the same thing happened to me. I was so tired all the time, and my lab results were supposedly "fine"! So, on my own, I slowly increased my Synthroid, over & over again, thinking that was the answer. I also asked the Dr. to be sure to get a FULL thyroid panel, T3, T4, TSH, and Dr. added Cytomel, another thyroid medication. Little did I realize that it takes a couple of months before I would likely feel the result of any increase. And, no matter how much I increased, I never did feel any less tired! So, I'm back down to 112.5 Synthroid & 5 mcg. Cytomel, and still not sure if its the right amount cuz I'm STILL tired, after all that foolin' around. Today, I've decided to see an Integrative Med. Dr., who will work with me on all fronts to find the reason for constantly being tired...
mish,
I am sorry to hear that.
Btw - I had a teacher that I absolutely loved who's last name is Fisch. Is that a common name?
Best to you,
Jillynnie

Jillian,
How are you doing, friend? I haven't 'seen' you in a bit? You doing okay and feeling good?
Just wanted to pop in and say good morning. Not trying to interrupt this Q.
Hugs!

Hey Jilly! Thanks, friend... I'm okay & you? Been keepin' an eye on ya! Saw you took a trip & time w/ kids... you're off & on, like me! I'm a bit run down, computer crashed, etc, so lots of catchin' up. Just plain tired! Need motivation & a med review! Oh, and lowered the subx, like some others here... just looking for ANY answers! Nice to 'see' ya. Jillian:)
I can completely relate to the motivation and med review!! In fact, I am going to see my neuro tomorrow and am very glad about it! He has pushed my appointment back now almost a month. I think he had a death in the family and has been out of the country, but if I get a call today that is pushing it back AGAIN I need to find a new doc!
Hope you are doing better today,
Best to you!
Jilly
