Moved to Seoul, Korea this past July 2010. No Soma here according to docs and pharmacy. Only Soma I know of is in Hong Kong but it's 1/2 the dosage and is rare plus the doc I saw told me I should take it no longer than 3 months. Why do some docs feel this way about the only muscle relaxer that has ever worked for
Me?! I am taking the same dosage I took 15 years ago! I am running out and need a contact/Dr. Who understands its benefit for people like me with severe chronic pain. Anyone know where or who I can turn to? Are any of those online sites legit? PLEASE help me. Thank you!
Soma has been a Godsend for the last 16 years I've taken it (off and on). Problem is, I've moved?

Hi Cwoosh,
I wish I could help you. I feel much the same as you do. Soma is the only muscle relaxer that has ever worked for me. It has become extremely difficult to get drs to prescribe this med even in the states. To make matters worse the DEA has now classified Soma as a schedule IV controlled substance as of Jan 12, 2012.
I don't know about the online pharmacies as far as if any are legit. I know people do order from the internet but from what I've heard it's a crap shoot and very common for your order to be seized. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I do hope someone has a better answer for you as I know it has been a Godsend for me also. Take care and best wishes sweetie. -Terri-

Thanks tlcandmore! I heard from my PCP that Soma was reclassified and he couldn't give it to me anymore. I thought he was just trying to get out of giving me the script but then he showed the DEA letter to me. I hate that we, the people who need this drug, are an afterthought over the abusers of pain meds!! Really! Why are they given power over our lives? I'm so angry over this. Oxycodone is a bad word because celebrities and their doctors treat it like candy while those of us who really need it are looked at suspiciously and our friends and family gasp at the words Soma, Oxycodone, Vicodeine, etc. Ugh!

Take care,
Sorry cwoosh I don't know any. If I had I probably would have been very tempted to do just that when I was going through hell. It's probably even more difficult now because of the new classification. I hope you find a solution. I know many in person and on this site that are in the same boat. I'm afraid that my primary doc may stop prescribing them for me now so I may soon be right back where you are. Best wishes to you. I will stay in touch. Good luck sweetie.

If your PCP stops prescribing you will have to go to a Pain Specialist BUT it has to be one who is okay with prescribing soma. You'll also also have to submit to surprise drug tests, sign a contract, etc. it was no problem for me but now that I'm in Korea I have to rely on Baclofen or find a pain specialist in Hong Kong and buy a $1,000 ticket to go every 3 months! Bleh.
I hope things continue to work out with your PCP!
Take care,
Cynthia
