good question,i had the same problem,still sort of do,but nothing like before,and believe it or not,i take tylenol pm,lol,yup,that get's me to 4am every morning,when before i was like you,and i take 2mg of xanax,3x aday and that doesnt make me tired,probably because our body's are use to it,and I too have been prescribed sleeping pills and believe this,it made it worse,not to mention it took my sex drive away and incapable of having an orgasm,so i stopped those,and that still went on for a little over a month before i was back to normal,so i wont take sleeping pills anymore,that is when i just tried the tylenol pms,I take two and sleep till 4am,which isnt great,but way better than getting maybe an hour or two all together. dont know if this was of any help,just thought i would give you my experience:),im interested in seeing what others reccomend,and good luck to you,truly,as I know how miserable that can be!

OTC Benedryl helped me before I was on prescription meds I too 100mg Now that is me everyone is different. try 50mg to start if you do choose to try it Hope it works Barb

my husband has insomnia and has tried prescript medication but now he takes sleep aide which is available over the counter but you have to ask the pharmacist. we order it on the net now as it is very cheap about $30 for 200 tabs it is best to only take them every second or third night. best of luck

Believe it or not try Benedryl. (allergy tablets)
Start off with one 25mg tab, if that doesn't work use 2, but 2 of them are going to make you feel kinda "drunk like" for a few hours after you wake up. Seriously start with one, and if you have to go to 2 your body will adjust quite quickly. Works for me but it takes 2 for me.
