Sister addicted to vicodin?

Vicodin is hydrocodone which is the opiate and tylenol. She will eventually hurt her liver because of all the tylenol abuse. She should see a suboxone doctor and get into recovery. Vicodin is not a particularly strong painkiller for someone who has been taking them for anymore than a few months. The high she gets will eventually disappear and turn into terrible dysphoria and depression, no matter what or how many she ingests. Also, if she has been abusing for less then 5 years (this is on average and doesn't pertain to everyone) then she likely will not go into recovery because she is still getting the euphoria from the hydrocodone. She will eventually have to go to a stronger opiate which puts her at a higher risk for overdose. So it's up to her in the end and there really isn't much you can do until she's ready. One thing I can tell you is don't make it any easier for her such as , giving her money, or driving her to the pharmacy or her wire ect.

You have to be tough so that you aren't enabling her to get the drugs. Tell her you don't want her in your life until she gets into rehab/recovery... I'm sorry but it really is all you can do for now... Dave
