I live in the gulf & here since lab results take 5 days (only govenment labs are authorised to do these test here), doctors are suggesting to start taking tamiflu when they see any doubtful symtons or when they know that the patient has been in the surrounding of another similar (H1N1) patient. Since spread is fast in schools, how safe is it to give to children, without wating for test. Which is worse a) waiting for results for 5 days? or b) taking tamiflu when you probably wouldn't have needed it in the first place?

It is best for you to take Tamiflu. It is fine to give Tamiflu to children as well (provided it was prescribed for them).
Flu symptoms can be quite debilitating so it is better to start taking Tamiflu as soon as possible. You may suffer for the five days, while you are waiting for the results.
