I have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg x 2 for HBP for several years. A few months agomy Cardiologist increased my dosage to 40 mg x 2 and added acebutolol 200 mg per day. For about three months I have been experiencing
excessive sweating and for about two months headaches that are severe in the morning and last throughout the day
with recent (last three weeks) light headedness and morning severe tinnitus.
Can anyone relate to this and can the acebutolol raise blood sugar?
Side Effect - could acebutolol cause sweating, headaches, tinnitus and raised blood sugar?

Hi, the symptoms that you have listed are more likely to be side effects from the lisinopril rather than the acebutolol. I understand that you have been on lisinopril for a while now, but the increased dosage could bring on 'new' side effects that you haven't experienced before. I would discuss this with your doctor.

Thank you for your considered response. My Dr decided to take me off of the lisinopril and put me on an ARB. We'll
see how that goes.

The doctor stopped the lisinopril and put me on Diovan 320mg. I am still taking the Acebutolol. However, I am still experiencing headaches and sweating. It's been about 2 weeks since the doctor made the switch. Should I conclude that
Acebutolol is the culprit? I see the Cardio
in 2 weeks for regular follow up. Thanks for your input.
This is a difficult one! Both the acebotolol and the diovan can cause headaches! The sweating isn't a well known side effect from either though. Are you on ANYTHING else? Did your dr give you any advice in case the headaches continue? As you know, it can take your body a while to adjust to a new med, 2 weeks maybe isn't long enough? If you can tolerate the headaches a bit longer it may be wise to give it another week, and if no joy go back to your dr. Are you taking anything for the headaches, paracetamol/ibuprofen? The only other thing i can think of is if you have a diet high in salt? This COULD lead to hyperkalemia. Which could present itself with side effects, such as the sweating? I think you should speak to a professional about this and see if they agree?
