Should you use Relistor if you have gastroparesis?

I have Opioid Bowel Syndrome as a result of an accident when I was 18. Three of my vertabrae were crushed, all of the bones in my face, my right hip and my pelvis. Since then (1980) I have had 7 back surgeries, 2 neck and others not bone related. I have been a Chronic Pain patient under the care of a Pain Mamagement doctor since '98. I was diagnosed with the bowel problem last October and have since been diagnosed with Gastrparesis, also. Both conditions were caused by meds (mostly narcotics). I use Relistor every 3rd day instead of every other day since I don't eat much, and my stomach and bowels are so slow. My GI told me that bowel movements were neccessary (duh), so I either use the Relistor or have a colectomy. I haven't noticed any ill effects yet, but since it is a new drug, they have very few clinical tries longer than 6 months. I plan on using the Relistor as long as possible, unless a new, bad finding comes up.

It hasn't caused any problems with my stomach yet, but I haven't been diagnosed with the GP very long. Also, I have scarring on my abdomen from a laporotomy, old style gall bladder removal, insertion of a Morphine pump and one from a back surgery with an anterior approach. I do have a couple spots with no scar tissue, but you can also use your legs and your arms (if someone else gives the shot in your arm).
