Is it safe to take citalopram hbr 20mg with Trazodone 100mg?

Trazodone is so helpful to me but I was also prescribed the citalopram also. I have concerns about the two combined.

I'm confused why that would happen. If the Trazodone was helping, what was the purpose of adding another drug? They do have an interaction of increased risk of serotonin syndrome. I would talk to my pharmacist and doctor about it first.
