I have been on and off this medication. It seems after a few months, I start with leg cramps (mostly my left leg around the ankle up) and my hands. Every time I call my doctor, they tell me to stop this med until the cramps go away and start on it again. It does help lower my cholesterol problems but I am having cramps again for about 3 weeks now. Could this be due to some other medication I am taking? I take Gabapentin 400mg 3 pills 3x a day and have been on this medication for years. Could this be the culprit? I take a muscle relaxer at night Baclofen 10mg 1 pill at night and this helps me sleep. I have also been on this medication for almost a year. Any advise?

I take 1/2 pill of Rosuvastatin at night. I just did my labs and there appears to be nothing abnormal about my labs. They check my labs every time I complain about the cramps.

If your muscle cramps go away when you stop taking rosuvastatin then it is highly likely the cause of your cramps.
There is a moderate interaction between baclofen and gabapentin ... but this interaction should not result in symptoms such as cramps.

Dear Mad man
I have a good friend who has been on most drugs such as simivastin, Provachol and a whole range of them she goes through episodes of leg cramps bottom line she ends up notifying her cardiologist he then usually changes the medication, he advises her that since she has had elevated cholestrol and cardiac problems it's recommended by cardiologists and the american heart association to prescribe patients these medications, It seems to be if once you are off this like Marvella said then it is most likely the medication. my neighbor is very confused and upset once she discontinues these cramps in legs leave with her, I wish the very best of luck!

I don't have any cardiology problems yet, just high cholesterol but that is due to my diet I am sure but with everything I have been hit with, diet is the least of my worries. I am still going to enjoy eating what I enjoy, at least I have that pleasure and that helps my state of mind to wake up happy.
Thanks...
I didn't really help you (as I would have liked to) but I would imagine that they use the medicines to try and keep yours under control and possibly avoid cardiovascular problems or increase the chances of this, I have a friend who sticks so close to a diet that it's (almost compulsive) but the thing of it is it makes no difference, he still had to resort to these type of drugs/
Thanks for your comments Billy. All the info I get from this site is helpful, including yours. By my diet, I am explaining that I should be eating more fish and the like but I don't because my life is restricted by enough medical conditions and I still want to find something I enjoy, so I eat what I want without regard to diet. At least I still have that pleasure left. My cholesterol is high and this is a continued problem which I need to review my medications with my doctor. I have a whole list of appt's. coming up and of course this wears me down along with daily pain issues, I have no cardiac issues yet, and maybe that will change over time but I will worry about that when it happens. I still want to find a smile when I wake up in the morning (depending on what drugs I take), and it is not easy now a days but I try. At least I still have that part of my sanity left again (depending on what drugs I take), so I am still working on a smile each day NO MATTER WHAT THE DOCTOR SAYS!
