... plaquenil for 13 years. Now they are not working unless accompanied by steroids, so he is facing the decision of whether to try remicade or rituxin. Rituxin seems to be a better choice for us because he would only have 2 infusions a year--- and we have a 2-hour drive. Any insights?

Remicade and Rituxan work differently and you might have to get more advice from your husbands doctor as to which one will be best for your husband. I'm sure they'll take into consideration your reasoning to minimize traveling time, etc.
The links below have reviews made by people who have used these medicines - you may find these useful.

you might want to check on this new drug that is now out. since your husband hs been on enbrel, this new drug is an injection once a month at home, like enbrel. i believe the name is simponi. i have read up on alot of these drugs and i am not crazy about remicade. let us know how it works out. good luck

My heart goes out to all and wish I had the right answer to give.My best advise is for you and your husband to talk with his doctor about Rutuxin,Remicaide and Simponi and discuss the best course of action for him to take since all medications work differently in people.Mongainchrist

Hello
I started with plaquenil 25 years ago and progressed rapidly to the newer drugs. They seem to work for me about two years and then quit. I was on enbrel for 3 years and it worked great for a while. Just started with rituxan. so far not great . its been about a month so I m giving it more time. If cost is a factor the bill for my two infusions was a bit over $24,000.00 So the cost is about the same as the injectables in the long run. I hope he finds relief. Enbrel was the best so far
