Talwin Nx is an opoid analgesic which contains naloxone and pentazocine. The pentazocine is the analgesic. There are many many other opoid analgesics which may work better than the Talwin. You can look at a comaprison chart which includes pentazocine at the following site:
There are many other more potent opoid analgesics as you can see from this chart. Which one would be appropriate for your kidneys, I am not sure.
I would let the doctor know that the Talwin is just not working and ask for something else.
