... and had no problems. Oh, she is 96 years old. She has acted more aggressive and angry since her dosage was increased. I don't know if these two things are related. At about the same time, she started to take the generic Lexapro. We're just grasping at anything to help us figure where these behavioral issues are coming from. Thank you for any help. Phyllis

Hi Pledge, I have read how the generic Lexapro may contain different in-. active ingredients. Could that be what's causing her behavior ? I'm going to speak with her doctor and I want to know what I'm talking about or at least
have some idea of what i'm talking about. Before researching this, I thought the generic is the same for all drugs and you should not see any difference.
Hello again. Bit late in responding. Generics vary from one to another (even amongst themselves) I could go into a long explanation but to make it short, generics are as effective as the non generics. Thier are guidelines that the FDA mandates to the manfacture of generics. But people do often have adverse reactions to them. Its not news that a person is switched to a generic and will say, whats up? I feel nothing. Are you sure you gave me the correct drug? etc etc. I know that often a person although paying much more for the name brand, having tried a generic, will go back to said name brand. I belive that if your mother were to be give 10mg of the generic, as I stated before, and will have a bad reaction, she has the option of going back on the non generic.
