I have just been approved for this procedure but it sounds very painful. I have used Capsicum 2% in the past and this helps but only for a couple of hours. This Quitenza patch lasts 3 months but has anyone had this done?
Thanks for your feedback.

I have spoken to my doctor, done research on the web about the Quitenza patch, read as much as I could about this and still want this procedure. Nothing else I have tried works well enough. I have used Capsicum patches (otc) and they work for a few hours. I have degenerative joint disease which may be related to these symptoms but no definite diagnosis as yet. I am willing to under go this procedure in lieu of pain pills which do nothing for the pain, including morphine.

Has anyone had this procedure before? I understand I will be out for about 2 hours to monitor the capsicum levels and skin reaction.

I just had this procedure done and I do not recommend this procedure without pain medication. This is 8% Capsicum which is too intense for the body to handle. This is a new procedure for pain patients BUT I do not recommend this procedure unless you are familiar with Capsicum. I use Capsicum 2% (otc) but this % is TOO INTENSE resulting in what is a severe sunburn feeling. I applied Benzocane when I got home which took the pain level down. Questions about this procedure ask me, I will be truthful.

What they do is numb the area for about one hour. Then they apply the patch for one hour. As long as the numbing medications works, you do not feel a thing BUT on the way home, I felt a strong sun burn. Put on Benzocane and that relieved the pain. Can't really say that it worked or maybe it did. Still have hip pain but it did seem to do something. This is a new procedure so ask your doctor.
I use a Lidocane patch which gets me through the night with sleep. This Fentanyl patch should work for you. It has very strong medication and my doctor will not give me this. Here they use the Fentanyl patch for terminally ill patients but the Lidocane patch at least lets me get some sleep. I feel the pain worst when the cold weather hits but do OK outside of that. (I have metal in my back).
