My periods used to be very regular and they have been throughout my life. I started propranolol about two months ago for anxiety at 20mg daily. My first (and only) period after that was spotty for like 5 or 6 days. Then became really heavy and with clots. After that, I have not had a period and this is the 49th day of my cycle. I called my doctor but he said propranolol does not cause menstrual irregularities. When did your period return to normal after stopping? I’m kind of freaked out and want my period so badly!
I also noticed cramping, which I rarely get, and started as well. However, I am also suffering from more then half of the other side effects so I immediately stopped taking the pills. I would rather deal with three migraines a week then go through the barrage of side effects which included coughing and headache. So I’ve been coughing to the point of not being able to catch my breath and I fall asleep from exhaustion from cough with a pounding headache. And there is more. But I would have to say that I too noticed changes in my cycle as well. AnD tHeN sOmE!!!
I have noticed my periods getting heavier and I started getting cramps. I have the Mirena(?) IUD. So this is all very not normal for me. Didn't start till I started propranolol...
Hi, sorry no one has answered you yet... I just did a bit of research as i've never heard of this before. I'm pasting some literature from an NHS site;
"Luckily propranolol and oxprenolol don't seem to have any effect on dopamine (in this part of the brain) and so should not have any effect on your periods. If your periods are irregular or late (or you start leaking milk), then you should see your doctor about this to find the cause."
So if you haven't done already, you should make an appointment with your doctor to discuss this.
