Pristiq - my doctor has said to start with 25 mg during dinner. Is that ok ?

Guess it should be ok, as the common side effects would maybe interfere with your morning chores so perhaps the doc prescribed the med to be taken in the evening.

Please do remember to be sure to swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush, break, or chew them. Pristiq should be taken at the same time each day to maintain an even level in your blood. For the drug to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Pristiq will not work if you stop taking it. Do not stop taking it without your healthcare provider's approval.

Hey ikea,

I can understand taking the Pristiq with a meal so to avoid nausea, but I would recommend taking in the morning once you get to a theraputic dose (50mg) as it may keep you awake.

I am rather curious as to how you are taking only 25mgs since it only comes in a 50mg and a 100mg pill. As Rajive has said, it is not to be split, crushed or chewed due to the time release aspect of the pill. I would double check with your pharmacist or doctor to be sure you are not making a mistake.
