Pregnancy - is it safe to take sertraline while pregnant?

There have been no human studies on the use of Sertraline during pregnancy so it is not known for sure how safe it is. You should follow the advice of your doctor though - he thinks you will benefit by taking it and any risk to your baby is outweighed by its benefit to you.
It is not recommended during the third trimester.

Ha! I was on exactly that during my third trimester of pregnancy. Any form of antidepressants ARE NOT GOOD FOR GROWING FETUS'. They can hinder development, cause you to miscarriage, birth defects even death. I was prescribed it because I was to "anxious" according to my doctor, but she gave it to me because I was already so far along in my pregnancy.

special care needed when pregnant, liver, kidney or respiratory disease, risk of fluid retention within eye. Patients should be warned of possible change in eye colour, darkening of eyelids & (possible), growth of eyelashes.
avoid use: children, breastfeeding
