Hi, in my experience i had the opposite effect with Tramadol. I lost a lot of weight when taking it. I guess i was on a high dose though, so the effects of appetite suppressant/enhancement could be dose dependent. I do know of friends that have also had the appetite suppressant effect when taking Tramadol.

Remember that prednisone can cause temporary diabetes so stay away from the carbs. You should be watched for this.
Low salt diet is important with prednisone. Very limited carbs. And you don't have to give in when your mind says you are hungry for a meal or sweets. Almonds, peanuts are good. Glass of mineral water with a touch of juice to flavor. Stay away from artificial sweetners as they just make you feel more hungry. Fruit is excellent. Savor what you eat and chew well ,don't eat fast. The feeling passes pretty quick.
Small meals through the day helps rather than three big meals. And distract yourself with something like tea or cold water. You are in control, always. If you have a good routine you will only gain a bit of water weight which will leave when done with the prednisone. I know, been doing this seven years on prednisone!
Endless prednisone wishing you well.

I take tramadol prn, just when I need something for pain. I take a drug for osteoporosis that has some pain med in it so I don't need as much tramadol. As far as cravings after I take one, I have never notice any side effects. Of course I usually take only 1 pill and it helps. Now I have took 2 pills at one time and it made me sleepy so I still don't remember any cravings. nannywiz
