Cephradine is a first generation cephalosporin. It is a moderate spectrum agent effective against staphylococcal and streptococcal infections and therefore an alternative for skin and soft-tissue infections, as well as for streptococcal pharyngitis.
Ceftriaxone is a third generation cephalosporin and has a broad spectrum of activity and further increased activity against gram-negative organisms. It also has excellent activity against most strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, and N. gonorrhoeae.
