Hi famous lowell ~
I applaud you for wanting to stop smoking. That is fantastic!!! I quit after my mom passed as did the rest of my family. So, let the healing begin! Congratulations on this one.
I just want to add here than CHANTIX can have very negative side effects. They seem to be more prevalent in people who suffer from depression already. But one of the most significant of the side effects is suicidal ideation. That is nothing to just gloss over so I am mentioning that one. Also, weird and unusual dreams... extreme agitation and anxiety. The inability to either fall asleep or stay asleep is right up there, too.
I am mentioning these things because should you decide to take this medication then you need to be aware of yourself and how you are doing... like are your thoughts going to places they shouldn't be...
I also wondered if you had given any thought to the "smokeless" cigarettes. I do know people who have switched over to those (along with a "patch") who now have given up smoking altogether and without the nasty side effects of chantix. Just throwing it out there as food for thought. A friend of ours who is 85 has successfully quite smoking and totally switched to the smokeless cigarettes. She said she finds it "soothing" and pretty effortless. At 85, God bless her, she believes she has a life worth living into after losing her husband and wanted to get her health back so she could feel better walking a golf course!!! Amazing...
I wish you a positive journey and whichever route you choose, I do hope you will continue to post about it just in case you have any of the side effects and you need support or just to know that others "have your back".
