Have had several injections of Kenalog, one worked six months, the most recent isn't working as well. Anyone have any luck with any other pain meds to help?

Hi MSG - Are you considering a hip replacement at this point? It probably would be the best long-term solution to this issue AND... I totally feel your pain! I am recovering from a full hip replacement now (I'm in my 50s) and it's been about 5-1/2 months now. It was the best decision I could have made because the pain that was being generated down my leg... through my knee and into my foot was frigging blinding at times! I have done the hip injections as well... my right hip is going through that now... trying to buy me some time before the next hip replacement. And, the injection actually worked this time. It didn't work in the left hip the first and only time. Pain killers aren't really going to do much... and I know your hip isn't going to recover. So whether you have AVN or OA of the hip... the fix is still a full hip replacement.
While I was in rehab (17 days) I was walking on my own (with a CNA holding onto me with a belt) with the assistance of a walker after 9 days. I was using a wheel chair to get around the facility. I can walk about 1/2 mile now and that is something because I have other issues including the other hip so I am happy with that plus the two canes. I walk 4 times a week... slow but steady.
In the meantime and until you get to that place where surgery is the only option, a PM doctor would best help you get the relief you seek. Fentanyl patches at 100mcg have worked well for me to cover everything else and also OxyCodone 15mgs for the breakthrough pain.
That's my long answer to your short query but I hope it gives you something to think about.
