cathln..Recieved 9 botox injections 2 weeeks ago. arms now hurt, neck and shoulders are hurting bad and tinnitus is worse too. Is this normal after shots? Especially since I was so bad i can't use arms. Will this improve. I jut have much more pain than before and more limited motion. Please help me. Thanks Cath

Hey cath,
Botox injections into muscles is suppose to make them unable to contract. I don't think this is a normal response to the injections. I would consult an orthopaedist or other spine specialist and have this problem properly diagnosed if you haven't already.

Google Botulism symptoms. This is what you have. Botulism poisoning. There is a summation effect so the last injection may have much more dire side effects than the first ones. Most doctors will dismiss a diagnosis of botulism because they are not trained to recognize it and they operate under the misguided assumption Botox cannot cause botulism which is absolutely false. Allergan has lost two major law suits for paralyzing, debilitating and even killing people who used their product, Botox.

Thank you, GreenQueen, I knew this wasn't a good response to Botox.. I have had every test Mri, Cy scans, 6 facet joint inj..nothing... My soulders are like wood..This has become worse after botox... I have had to rounds of botox, 3 months apary..I cancelled 3rd..I can not feel this pain again..Agter 6 weeks or so it is gone, but I am left with harder neck mucles... Dr. does not believe me... I am stuck now, with no doctor.. thanks for you help...

I agree! But I have a few questions why botax not cotisone? Are you allergic to steroids? Have you had an mri of your head and neck? I would get a second or third opinion before I did that again! I'm sorry for your pain and suffering I hope you feel better real soon and get some better help! Jaime
Thank you Laurie. I wll calll on Monday. I am so afraid i'll be this way permenantly, I just will loose all hope if I can't take the botox.
I have had 3 MRIs, only on my cervical spine, disc buldge, DDdesease. Not causing all this pain. One on brain, Had stroke around same time all this started, not from that either. Have been to 2 neurosurgeons, 4 different neurologists. Have had cortisone shots numerous times in all C spine. I personally think it started in the Scm muscle and thats why tinnitus and base of skull is so painful. Somedays, I literally am at the end of my rope. This has been non stop pain, spasms and screaming tinnitus.
I have seen 16 different specialists and now, I am at a teaching hospital. Can not get appointment, they say go to ER.. I can't afford to. Just wondering if maybe this botox hurts worse before it makes muscle paralized. Grasping at straws:( Thank you both for answering and your suggestions. Cathln
Darn you've been through a lot! Omg I don't have anymore advise or thoughts id of tried it to if I were you. I do get injectiong in my lower spine people have told me they hurt like hell but I don't feel them. They say it feels like their on fire and they do hurt for a while after not for long though. Like I said I don't feel anything not even the needle going in. Its very weird to be in pain and numb at the same time. I really hope you get relief. I feel so bad for you I wish I could help. Thank you Jamie, I just can't believe pain can take over your entire life and no one can help. Like most doctors, they see an older woman and think she wants attention. I've had some literally tell me to leave, lay down, take a valuim ,and listen to the birds??? Really? I have even gone to therepist in hopes of just trying to calm myslf, hoping it will help. Nothing has. Layin gown makes it worse and I can't lift or drive at all. Whatever is wrong has to do with my arm movements. Thanks for listening and all who have answered. Hope your having a good day! I went to see this one neur because when they switched my insurance they was covered. That jerk looked at my records and said well what do you want me too do? What do you want disability? Stop taking migraine meds and walked out the door. I said to him I work 9hrs a night and just wanted you to help! I told my hubby f him let's go. We started leaving and he goes well ill give you a lumbar puncture if that's what you want. I said I think your getting paid enough you won't touch me ever and left. That was ignorant of him its important to find a dr who show you respect and wants to help you get to the bottom of the problem to help. Some I believe just wanna get paid the big money. Jaime
Oh yeah I wanted to say your right pain can definatly take over your life. And I'm 35 when I went to that jerk I was 27 they act like your just lazy when your younger I use to walk 22 mile marathons for ms isn't that a kick in the butt. Now I have ms I can't walk a mile.
