I recently had a problem keeping oxycontin in my system while prepping with Trilite solution before a colonoscopy. I tried to time my dose as directed-"ONE HOUR BEFORE OR 1 AND A HALF HRS. AFTER" taking both halves of the solution as prescribed but they zoomed right out of me so by the time I had the scope I was well in withdrawal. I take 40 mgs every 8 hours. Does anyone know another method that works? The Trilite is merciless and I have to do this once a year. Thanks for answering.

If your pain Dr is willing, you might do better to take a short acting formulation of oxycodone like Roxicodone (maybe a 15mg or 30mg) while prepping for your scope. You are more likely to absorb the short acting than the long acting while prepping. Just discuss it with your Dr ahead of time and see if they are willing to give you a few days supply of the short acting drug for those days you have to prep. I think that will work better to keep you from feeling so ill during your prep and scope then once it is all over you can return to your normal OxyContin dose.
