I live in extreme pain now and have since I was a teenager. My question is... Did this drug Paregoric given to me was something if not a cause to some of my health issues. HI, I've been researching this drug because it has been the only lifesaver for me. I haven't read or heard anything in that manner. This is produced by a natural growing plant. Hope this helps and will post if I learn anything new!

My mother and grandmother also gave me paregoric when I had an upset stomach. I have used it for IBS since about 1980 (I am now 70). I have never had a side effect from the drug, and I am on no other medications except for depression and anxiety caused by the stupid IBS. I am trying to find paregoric, as it has become very hard to find. I understand from one company that the FDA made them stop making it, but I have no proof of that fact. Note: I only used the drug as prescribed and only as needed.
