Just wanted to get some opinions from parents of children who have tried Adderall. My son was just prescribed this today, and I am concerned about side effects and wanted to know how well it worked for other children. He has always done well in school but is starting to struggle in the 3rd grade. I am also concerned that it may affect his personality and mood.
Opinions needed for 9-year-old son with ADHD prescribed Adderall?

This is only my opinion, but i would not put my son on adderall. I am on Adderall and I do have the benefits of this helping me with energy and school related things, but i am having some acne, skin picking problems. I have been on it for 4 months, i feel a high from it, and i would say i am addicted to it. I do not recommend this for a child.

I also recommend you taking him off of it. Started it also when I was you & 18 years later I'm an addict. Actually starting treatment next week! It is one of the most addictive pill out there. People don't understand that it made with the same things that meth is made with!!! Go to another med for help! I wish I did!

I have 2 kids that take it one is 10 and one is 5 neither one has any side effects to it and it works great for them!Since being on it my 10 year old is now an all A student.As far as their moods go they are pretty good most of the time no more then normal for their age!Good luck!

I have also taken ritalin, and it is helpful, and you do not get such a high from it, i recommend that for your son, at a low dose.
