Not exactly. Novolin R is classed as short acting insulin, where onset of action is after 30 to 60 minutes and duration of action about 6 to 8 hours.
The fast or rapid acting insulins are Apidra, Humalog and Novolog. Their onset of action is within 10 to 20 minutes and duration of action about 3 to 5 hours.
