My grand daughter has been prescribed this ointment and her eyes are killing her. The pharmacies only carry the drops. It is the weekend and can't get ahold of her doctor. What is the generic and can I buy something over the counter until Monday when I can get ahold of her doctor?

Go to a large pharmacy. Target or some other large pharmacy. The drops should work simular but the ointment will stay with her longer. In the mean time try used tea bags that you have been chilled in the fridge. Also cool cucumber slices will help some. For many years I had problems with my eyes. I prayed someone would commit me, so I know eye pain can drive you nuts. Tell the pharmacy just to order the dang medicine and get it over with. Many ointments for the eye has to be ordered, as they are not commonly ordered.
Sorry I could not give you better news.
