It may not instantly kill the lice but it is the most effective medicine there is. I recommend the nit removal product to use that first to remove the nits and then the nix and leave it 10 minutes. Nix kills the eggs but there is always a chance that a louse or nit got missed. Head lice glue their eggs to the hair shaft and the nit removal product is an enzyme that dissolves the glue making the hair easier to comb and the eggs easier to get out. I had a major problem with them on my daughter and finally took her to the doctor. She recommended doing the Nix treatment 3 times in 6 weeks at 2 week intervals. We checked all kids she came in contact with and they all had eggs in their hair and those of course kept hatching and getting on other kids. The key is to get the eggs out and treat 3 times in 6 weeks.
