i have been on the patch for two months now. i take this along with tramadol.
when i first went on it i didn't think it was doing anything.
i thought it might be inteferring with my sleep so i stopped it.
well then i realized that it was helping me. it helps life to go smoother,
I just saw my pain doctor today and am told he wants me to give this patch a try instead of the oral pain med i am taking, but to continue to take it with tramadol/ralivia. I was told a few things by my doctor who worded it as "the instructions that come with the patch are wrong" he said that better places to put it was on a shoulder blade but then if you move that arm in a weird way it means putting a wrinkle in the patch so best is on one's thigh. He also told me if i find the starting dose to strong that unlike the packaging tells you its perfectly fine to cut the patch in half and only use half of it nothing will leak out.
whoever told you to cut the patch does not know what they are talking about. there is an edge along the patch, on all sides, that holds the medicine inside. if you cut the patch you will not have an effective patch. mine is 10mcg.
there is no trick to putting it on. just use a different spot on your upper arm each week. a smooth spot. it helps to have someone else apply the patch as they have better control as to where it goes. really just follow the directions on the information packet (did you ever see such a big one) and you will be fine.

Due to severe back pain and after four back surgeries, my doctor put me on the patch. Was told to alternate the patch every seven days on the shoulders. After three weeks my shoulders started to hurt when I tried to lift my arms. I stayed on the patch even after my doctors raised the doseage. I got to where I could not raise or move my arms. I came off the patches,(I did not ask my doctor) after 3 months, I still have soreness in my shoulders upon movement. I will not go back on the patch. I was so sick from other meds. I'm not sure I really got that much relief from the patches. I have tried to contact the manufacture and unable to find or contact them.
