soccermom...I have just relocated here to the Nashville area and found a PCP that I am not happy with. In the meantime, I have asked her for a referral 2 months ago and have yet to get one from her. My PCP in Louisville that I had for 13 years was helping with my pain management and she has received the records. Any help, suggestions or advice on what I should do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

soccermom1826, if you are not happy with your new dr, then i would say keep searching till you find one that will help you and that is encourageing to you. why not call your previous dr. and ask if he/she can give you any referals or guide you in the rite direction. when it comes to pain management many many people just blow us off. they look at us like we are faking or just plain crazy. you and i, nor any of us deserve that. find another doc and then call the medical board voicing your concerns about this dr, hang in there, if worse gets to worse, go to the er, many times the er dr will be able to refer you to a dr. keep us posted

Thank you Leanne! This new dr also misdiagnosed me twice in one week and I ended up in the ER Christmas Eve with pnuenomia (she kept telling me to take Claritin and Mucinex DM all week while I had been running a fever of 101+ that wouldn't go down! I am trying to find a good PCP but don't know anyone down here to get a recommendation, plus it can get costly to keep looking around until I can find someone I like. My previous PCP is in another state (KY) and he doesn't know any dr's down here in TN close to me. It's very frustrating and all the while I sit and deal with the pain!
I have been going to the pain management group in Murfreesboro or to their office in Antioch. Ask for Dr. Miller or his PA. I was a patient of Dr Ladson who was the best there but he is gine and Miller took over for him. They offer meds for pain and other therapys. There is also a place in manchester a freind of mine goes to since she has no insurance and it is a 'cash only' place. You must bring in your own records including mri or ct scans or x-rays. Hope this helps and good luck I know all too well about pain- had a failed 360 lumbar fusion with 5 discs and hurt more now than before. In need of more surgery but too scared to do it! I have a degree i cant use because of pain and am currently on disability receiving a fraction of what my income once was prior to surgery :(
