I have been on Nardil for 22 years at 60 mgs per day. Gall Bladder surgury is coming up. What is safe for my Anesthesiologist to use to put me under and what about pain medications after surgury? I have never been put under before and this has really got me scared. Can anyone help?

Katscraw,
To the best of my knowledge, nardil is an old med used for the treatment of depression, and has a lot of weird side effects. Why hasn't your psych doc changed them to something easier? That's another discussion ...
I just had surgery and the whole, complete job of the anesthesiologist is to assess your special situation and medications to keep you stable while you sleep during the procedure. Are the docs taking out Laparoscopically or other way? Doesn't matter, the anesthesiologist will handle the situation. Don't worry about that. Cholecystectomies (gall bladder removal) are a frequently done procedure.
The anesthesiologist is a specialist and knows what he's doing. I understand your fear of the unknown, but I've had at least 20 surgeries and, actually my father was a surgeon, so along with my personal surgeries, I've watched a lot, too.
Praying for your pleasant surgery and smooth and rapid recovery,
Peace,
