If you can leave off the vicodin for a few days, that might improve your sleep. It actually can make some people have insomnia instead of making them drowsy, especially if you have been taking it for awhile. So sorry to hear about your dad. Have you looked up the side effects from the provigil?. It sounds like it might be making things worse too. I would talk to the pharmacist and see if these 3 things might be interacting. There is also a drug interaction tab on the light blue banner just under the drugs.com logo. Maybe it something needs to be taken at a different time or a different dose. Talk to the doctor also.

Hello - I have narcolepsy and was on 300 mg/day of provigil for about 10 years, supplemented with ritalin and prozac (for cataplexy). After taking it for so long its effectivness was wearing off (even with "breaks and holidays") and that's when I starting researching alternatives. I have now been taking xyrem for a couple of years and do not need to take anything else. It works great for me. You should speak to your specialist, or if your doctor is unfamilar with xyrem consider finding a new doctor that has other patients currently on the drug. That's what I did and I couldn't be happier. Good Luck!
