Any Muscular Dystrophy patient should be VERY leery of IV sedation or general anesthesia. They should be evaluated by a cardiologist, a pulmonologist, a neurologist and an anesthesiologist. My son, who had Emery Dreifuss M.D. was sedated with Versed & Demerol, which caused cardiopulmonary arrest and cardiogenic shock which led to his death. I warned the doctor beforehand, but the Dr. thought he was God and disregarded my warnings and killed my beloved son.
Make SURE that your doctor has a THOROUGH understanding of Muscular Dystrophy. Your life depends on it.
