terripinn...My stepmother has been put on Arixtra 7.5mg daily and was told the shots are $125.00 a day. They can't afford this and can't find the generic. She has lung and colon cancer, has been on chemo for 20 mths. Bloodclot formed at the port so she was put on this to stop the bloodclots. Is there something cheaper?

Have you discussed this with the prescriber? There are many anticoagulants on the market today - see the link below.
Ask your doctor if any other cheaper versions would be suitable for your stepmother - you may need to also consult with your pharmacist. All the best.

The generic for Arixtra was approved on July 11, 2011. You should be able to find it at the pharmacy. What kind of insurance do you have? The generic form using BlueCross is $20 for a 90 day supply. Otherwise, it should be around $250 for the brand name for 90 days. Call each pharmacy within a 10 mile radius of your home and get them to give you the price or call BlueCross or your insurance company and they should be able to tell where is the cheapest place to buy either product.
