Hi leanne. I know you've been going through a hard time. Trying to remember if you see your psychiatrist this week. Having a poor memory moment (better not be for the day) Hopefully when you read this, you'll be getting some much needed sleep. As you've said, you know that anxiety is the culprit. Try and remember that, it can ease your levels (anxiety).
hey pledge, it wasnt till about 5 pm i was able to actually get about 4 hours of sleep, my dr told me to take 2 xanax .05 mg for bed and being i was so tired i showered and took it and got some sleep. yes i have to challenge these thoughts and fears that are so not realistic, and it is deffinately my anxiety/panic, ty for your help, leanne
Hi leanne, I'm glad for you that you managed to get yourself some sleep. Thats good, and it feels good when it happens! I know, don't know if you remember but I'm an insomniac so that part of me certainly identifies. Have a great evening, take care then.

I have been through the same thing and I know it sucks. Your doctor can help and a therapist can also help. I have learned to control my attacks with breathing and staying busy ( cleaning house, walking ). But I still have them, nite time is the worst. I am sure you will get some responces that will help you more than mine. Hang in there it does get better once you learn to manage your stress. Alot of people have been through this and they can help . Good luck and I hope things get better. This site has helped me and their are some great people out there. Soon you will be helping others with your advice. Best wishes.
booter46, your help also eases my mind, i do try to keep myself busy and my mind off of self and it does help, i had a talk with my dr and he has me taking two .5 mg xanax at bed time to help me get some sleep, also got an assignment from my therapist that we will work with to help challenge my stuck thoughts that i get at bed time, and the target is to show me how unreal these thoughts are. thanks a bunch
Your welcome, Good luck.
J9Kelley, i am on xanax for my anxiety/panic attacks and now my dr has me taking two .05 mg at bedtime to help me get some sleep. thanks for your support

hi leanne... your symptoms ... sound exactly like i get... horrible... and if textbook... like pledge & the others said... they pass... But to be on the safe side... no matter what... call and at least talk to your "urgent care nurse" and explain exactly your symptoms at that minute... they will tell you either what we have said... OR... they will tell you to come into the ER. Even if it is a false alarm... DO IT! I had the same panic attack 1 year ago... waited cause i thought it was just another horrible anxiety attack gone out of control... cause no left arm pain... But then i passed out... bang... i had a heart attack... "a little one" (there is no such thing) but got to the hospital... compliments of my son... who just happened to stop by. The nurse can decide, and being "embarrased" is never an option... at least they can get you some Ativan... or meds as needed, but don't chance it... if you feel that terrible...
hey handydon, i did go into the dr office to have a talk with my dr and he did assure me that all my heart tests came out normal, ekg, scan, bloodwork etc... thats my biggest problem i dont wanna brush anything off being i may think its panic/anxiety and its something serious, and yes who cares what the er drs or nurses think, its their job and better to be safe, ty
Hello Leanne, sorry to meet you under these circumstances. What everyone is telling you is out of concern and love. I agree with their words, and as Don has spoken above, if you had called 911, and I responded to your home, I would try to convince you to let us take you in to be seen. Your body can only take so much hon. If you dont feel that your doctor is paying close attention to your symptoms, get a 2nd opinion. You are entitled to that, no matter what the situation. You keep mentioning xanax tablets of .05 mgs. Are you sure thats not 0.5 mgs? Try to maintain taking your meds at the same time every day, so it will build up a therapeutic level in your system. Maybe that will help even things out and you will begin to feel much better. Im only speaking from personal experiences, Im a former medical technician on an ambulance. Try to find a happy place in your mind, close your eyes and focus on that place.

Hun your not crazy and this could be serious and maybe its something that can be figured out so please dont feel like that, get to the E.R. just to play it safe... I feel so bad for you!!! Iused to get those every now and then and they can be very sceary i know... who cares what people think at the e.r. thats why they are there.. plz get this looked at, you need to get to the bottom of this and finfd out why you are having these attacks.. your concerned friend, Mick from chicago...
hey thanks mik, you are so supportive and it means alot, i should not care what any staff at the er thinks cause it is their job, and why be putting myself at risk. i did go to the drs and got confirmation that all the testing, ekg, scan, bloodwork all came out normal so its not my heart or stroke. so that made me feel a little better, just these anxiety/panic illness can really make a person think like they are going nuts. thank you for your help and concern
Great and thank you for going and please don't ever thinkk that you being a problem when you feel like that hun because you never know what it can be and guess what in my sister case just like yours, she was and had a stroke! so plz who cares what they think at the e.r. that there job and most e.r. doc's and e.r. nurses love there job and love helping people like yourself.. you life is worth it!!! Good luck and feel better and try to figure out whats going on so you can get these attacks under control.. much luv.. Mickey...

Hey Darlin', YOU ARE NOT CRAZY! Now repeat after me, "I am not crazy. My body/mind has a message for me and this is how it shows up" Like the others said, if you're that scared, go to ER. Are you hooked up with both a good psychiatrist and a good therapist. Cutting edge studies show that a combination of the right meds and the right counselor are the best treatments for anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Hang in there...
i am not crazy, ok i repeated after you, and really need to self talk continuously and challenge this thoughts my anxiety/panic brings on, i see my pshych for the first time on 11/4, and i do go to therapy, had a session today and an assignment to do, i have to write all my stuck thoughts i get in my head when im getting ready for bed, jot them down and my next appt we will challenge those thoughts till i realize its not real. my dr also told me for the sleep to take two of my .05 mg xanax and that should help some, thanks for your support , without this group id really be a mess

Hi leanne,
I'm a bit late in my response, sorry!!
I recall my first panic attacks and they made me feel completely crazed!! If not for my brother, I would have had no idea what was happening to me!
This is great, you've your first appointment tomorrow!! How exciting for you, and a bit scary as well, I'm sure. Are you a tad trepadacious about your appointment leanne? Please try not to be if you are? They are there to help and not to harm you. But take whatever this doc has to say with a grain of salt, sometimes they love to label people!! Don't let a doc put you into some odd category if you think you don't fit the mould, ok?
Hope you are feeling better soon. I must say that .5 mgs of xanax is not much. But you are taking two, right? At bedtime? So you are taking 1mg total? (ohhh I can do math!! LOL) Perhaps you will get something that is calming and will help with your anxiety and help depression as well.
Best wishes leanne,

Good mornin' helpmehawaii, hope you've gotten some sleep!lack of sleep can make everything bad.they put me on seroquel at night awhile back and it does great... except you feel like shh..the next day,so i only take 50-100mg instead of the prescribed dose of 300 and it does well.i'm not sayin' that is for you but you may want to check into.i would think the x-anax would work a bit better if taken 1-2 times during the day, that way you have alittle something through the day for panic, and then a night time med.the night time panic attacks,i HATE those cause i will lay there and think about my family dyin' and car crashes, disasters etc.and actually feel it as if it has happened ,its terrible.i hope you feel better soon.i'm going to do some more remodeling today,ck in later
