hi i had hodgkins lymphoma, dont often share this 30yrs old now, had rasdiation to the back of neck , underarms plus other areas but not relevant, i relapsed 3 months later, the hair had grown back, i also had all kinds of meds, then i had major surgery and 9+ months of chemo were i lost all hair it all grew back except my underarms and its a little lighter at the back at my neck were the radiation killed the cells. so basically the meds your mum is taking is tio kill her body so the cancer dies but the doctors are clever enough to help her stay alive while the cancer dies, all cells suffer includinfg hair. if its her first time with cancer it usually grows back stronger than before.only certain drugs make the hair go but this tells u its killing cells (cancer cells) then they put you on other chemo drugs to stop the celluler cycle from repeating the old mutation thats why it takes so bloody long.

What a wonderful, thoughtful, caring answer. I don't read too many of those cheersrichard. Keep up the excellent advice! You are so right about the cells in cancer. The cell structure itself can change between treatments. There's also wonderful salons you can go to for custom wigs and hair pieces. They look so natural no one would ever know. Good luck and well wishes to your mom. She sounds strong and courageous. That can be so hard when battling cancer.
My very best wishes,
Chris
sskinner, you mentioned "follow up." I'm hoping that means the chemo is working? Aside from the very nasty side effects? As far as switching chemo treatments, be sure and let the oncologist know your concerns. God bless you and your mom.
