My husband just qualified for Medicare - so we were just told Caphosol is not covered by Medicaid and we have to pay for it out of pocket. Looking for tips on where to buy it and if anyone has found other coverage for it while on Medicare. Thanks

You may need a Medicare supplement that covers prescription drugs to get it paid, in the meantime there is a program that helps get people their meds if they can't afford it the info is below hope this helps you some marjorie zych

I agree to look at Medicare Advantage programs as I just found one through Humana that goes above and beyond your Medicare and Medicare Part D plan. A medication that was on a higher tier with the current Part D only plan I have now will be so much cheaper with this Advantage PPO plan.
The monthly cost is less than what I was paying for Part D only; now $76.30 but with the Advantage plan $52 a month.
You will need to make sure your doctor is part of their network. They offer many plans to assist your needs. I was amazed at not only how much I will save but also all the extra benefits I didn't have with traditional Medicare A/B only.
Enrollment period is between November 15th through December 31st only and you can look and find one that suits you now. The coverage will begin on January 1st, 2011.
I only wished I had known about this before now...

Thank you so much, I'll give PPARX a look. We've been told by our insurance broker that the Medicare supplement won't cover it because Medicare doesn't cover it. Not sure it makes sense since our current non-medicare insurance with bc/bs does cover it... I post an update when I figure out what we're going to do.
Good luck my dear there have been so many cuts it is unreal and there are more to come I am sure. keep me updated and let me know how you do with PPARX they are usually very helpful. marjorie zych
Caphosol not listed on the PPARX website.
You can try calling them and maybe they will be able to give you some information on who to turn to. I have had to call them before and they were really helpful. Good luck, marjorie zych
