How long ago was his surgery? The night I had mine I could not stop vomiting, I could not take any medication because I was throwing up for 14 hours. The problem is that without a gallbladder the bile has no storage tank and is constantly dripping into the digestive system. So if he is vomiting he has an endless supply and can't stop. He needs a rectal suppository like compozine to stop the vomiting and then some popsicles to try to get rehydrated or gatorade before trying to eat any liquids like broth or yoghurts. The best things he can do once he gets that under control are ibuprofen (if he can take it) and stretching in the shower (although it will hurt like h e double hocey sticks). I had a great surgeon and he was right was he said this surgery will defintely take 2-3 weeks to recover from and that's pushing yourself to do the stretching and walking every day.
I also had the runs for the first week. This can be reduced by chewing on papaya enzyme tablets before a meal with any fat in it. If it persists (something like 10% have it forever) he can get a prescription for Bentyl. Please let me know how he's doing. I have had many surgeries over the years and this little one was one of the worst recoveries ever.
Peace . . . Amie
