My search shows YES about Verapamil
Some possible side effects of the drug are headaches, facial flushing, dizziness, swelling, and constipation.
Verapamil is generally effective for migraine but it takes about 2 weeks to work. Verapamil is effective in migraine variants such as hemiplegic migraine
I have suffered headaches for six years now, from a blood clot in a vain
I have been on Morphine, which is one of the less damaging Opioid drogs

I can give you an alternative solution ... but first you must ask your Doctor
about TOPAMAX.
I have severe migraines (car accident in my case) and this med has worked very well for me.
What Is Topamax (topiramate) Used For?
Specific uses for the medication include:
Migraine prevention.
Epilepsy treatment (either used alone or in combination with other epilepsy medication)

Almost forgot, as you are well aware every medication has side effects... headache is not one of them with Topamax.

Thanks all of you for your input. Amazing how medications are suppose to be effective in but when reading/hearing the side effects- it makes one wonder is it worth it, I almost feel worst than the original problem.

That is my feeling. I worry about the effects on his heart action with this medication. It might be good for him in the long one. He has tried several others and they seem to work and then down the road they come back full force- so she tries something else. I have my issues with this doctor- writes a script and then tells the patient to take it differently- but this is another issue. They have never identified these as cluster headaches. The headaches started after a fall and of which he has had subsequent falls and at first were totally ignored. He hit his head the 1st fall but not the other falls. Cat scans show nothing. It is so frustrating for him. He has basically been told he needs to accept them and that meds are only a bandaid (which is true).
