I have always had anxiety but I also take Lisinopril for high blood pressure. Is it better for me to take 0.5mg or 1mg of xanax. I have no breathing problems. Why change the dose if it was working for me?
My doctor was giving me Xanax ,1mg. Now its 0.5mg. Which is the higher or lower dosage?

Barbara,
The others on here have answered your medication question. Xanax lowers blood pressure, actually propranolol lowers your heart rate, blood pressure and decreases anxiety as an added benefit. I take my propranolol whenever I start with the anxiety/panic symptoms. And propranolol has been around since time started, it's a beta-blocker. Atarax is a great old drug also, has lots of other qualities besides an anti-histamine... like a hypnotic and an anxiolytic (same effect as xanax, no benzos).
I believe your doc is trying to see if you can manage on a lower dose of xanax, for one reason, at least... it is so addicting. Yikes!

Thank you for your answer. It makes sense because I think 1mg is to much, it makes me to tired. I was just surprised that he lowered it without mentioning it when I saw him for my anual checkup. Thats why I asked Drugs.com. Thank you again. Barbara S.
