My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of prozac. But I took a sleep soundly, herbal supplement that?

I take Sundown Super Snooze, which is a mix of Valerian Root, Melatonin, Chamomile, and Skull cap. The Melatonin is 3 mgs. in the mixture, but there are higher miligrams available if you want to try just the Melatonin.
I believe 6mgs is available.

Just for your info. Melatonin comes in 3mg.

Start out with 3 mg of Melatonin. If after several days you need more, take another 1.5 mg (half of the 3 mg tablet). You can take more but I doubt you would need it. Melatonin works in tune with daylight so be sure to have no light in your bedroom - even cover over your alarm clock. Then in the morning, right as you wake up, be sure to be in strong light (preferably daylight) in order to burn off any leftover Melatonin. By keeping the same schedule of bedtime/wake up time, eating meals at the same time each day, and using light as a cue to waking up, along with the Melatonin you should sleep very well.

Hi you can also get melatonin in a 5mg pill if you find you need it. That is what i have taken in the past. I just wanted to tell everyone also, there has been a 'new triple strength' tablet formulated now, 10mg! That sounds a bit scary!

I agree, 10 mgs does indeed sound a bit scary, I wonder if one would awaken with a hangover type of feeling from that many mgs?

Wow - I can't imagine 10 mgs. I think it's a lot to take 5 mgs. I really wonder if there would be a danger in too much sedation causing depressed breathing, and death, from such a large dose? Many people think that just because it's an herbal or " alternative" medication it can't harm you, but some can. Shows you always need to stay alert and research anything that you take. Thank the Lord for the Internet!!!

I agree. You can't even buy it in England, where i live. and none of the doctors will prescribe it! I had to buy it when i was in South Africa

Wow, england. Iam in ca. Well, I took the prozac and the first night was fine. I went right to slerp. But also coming off a 16 hour shift. I am really worried about the sexual side effects and not being able to have an orgasm. It can be frustrating. I was on effexor at one time and that happen. I stop taking them

I honestly believe that some of us that are taking anti-depressants and have the idea that our sex lives are going to be affected, hinder our own libido. Psychologically we accept we are going to have to suffer a less than normal sex life because of the drugs, and so don't help ourselves from the start. I know that it has been 'scientifically proven' that a lot of a/d meds can affect us in that area, but i do wonder if we make it harder on selves without realising? I honestly haven't suffered a loss of sex drive since being on citalopram/celexa, and as i have said before, since the depression has lifted, i think my sex drive has increased. Every one is different so just go with how you feel and try not to think about it too hard!
