My DMBA insurance says Levoxyl and Synthroid are equivalents of Armour Thyroid - Are they wrong?

Part of the problem is that the Armor plant in Phoenix, AZ was closed down. Some doctors and insurance companies don't realize that Armor is back in production for armor thyroid extract. I had to use compounded pork thyroid and I didn't do well. When they restarted production-I called my HMO insurance and asked them why they were refusing to list Armor thyroid. They didn't know that it was back in production, and they even got it back on the medicare formulary-This might be your problem as compounded thyroid does cost, and they think that only compound is available. You and I aren't the only people having this problem.

Directly call the insurance company and ask for a supervisor about an appeal and mention that Armor in Phoenix, AZ is back in production, your sick, etc. Write letters or FAX-2 will do-get a receipt for them to prove you contacted the insurance and then contact your state Attorney General and tell them your story. You'd be surprised how quickly an insurance company will cave in and do expensive surgeries, so a medication shouldn't be a problem. Can you afford to be a self-pay to get thyroid? I'd consider contacting Armor in Phoenix and asking them for help with the insurance-maybe they can send you copies of studies, etc.
If you live near a university-you can do research on this at the medical library-they'll be able to list the meds-studies from the meds that the drug companies don't want you to know about, you know- how it affects people. I'd ask for a referral to an endoctrologist-hormone doctor-let the insurance that you'll fight.

Sometimes people get too technical with T this and T that- Tell them that you're sick and getting sicker-keep it simple for stupid and cheap people.
Is a synthroid the same as Armor? no-Does it effect people the same as dessicated thyroid-the name on this site for armor-but dessicated can include compunded thyroids? No. If you run into dead ends do the research and go for the State Attorney general.They should help you then.
In type "A" personalities, synthroid can cause acute aggression. I was fighting with adobe walls. I was so angry and had to punch and kick them. I'm normally calm-just focused-My hands swelled up but I didn't break any bones. My AF doctor told me this is a common problem with combat groups and police. When a violent or depressed person is being referred-the military and VA medical staff checks them for thyroid problems, if they are on a synthroid-they change them over to armor, especially if they're agitated and fighting concrete walls.
