For over 1 year she has been suffering from severe nose & chest congestion. After a thorough check up the doctor has ruled out he Adenoid problem and has put her on Singulair Pediatrics whenever she has frequent/irritating cough to control the same. But, still she is coughing and the nose is stuffy.
I have read the side effects of Sungulair being stuffed nose and cough. Is it normal and what is a better medicine to be used.
My daughter is 5y and 4m?

Poor child, and poor you. I've found Vicks vaporub to be excellent on babies and small children-rub it on the back before bed time and in the morning. They make Vicks for humidifiers and vaporizers. As an adult I had something that didn't respond to meds, and i thought- stupid me- i used Vicks under my nose and rubbed it on my back. My dad had us eat it-I'm 70 and doing well-obviously it didn't kill any of us- and my brother was a marathon runner and a marine. We're old now

Have you taken her to an allergist for a good allergy work up? It sounds like she has bad allergies and you need to know what she is allergic to so that you can avoid it and if there are substances she cant avoid you may want to consider allergy shots.De-sensitizing Allergy shots consist of giving her very very small amounts of the things she is allergic to so her body can start to build immunity to them without putting her in full blown allergy attack. They are quite effective to desensitize people with severe allergies.

Hi shaahqui,
Sounds like she might have post nasal drip. I have it and I get stuffed up, nose drips and cough too. I take Atrovent nose spray for that. But she might be too young for that one. Have you tried the nose spray with the daulphin on it. All it is, is sea salt and water. That is safe for her. I used it on my kids.
Hope this helps you. Take care,

I think we get so focused on high tech and something arty-a fad. My son picked up his girlfriend's son from school. He was burning up. I kept rubbing the poor boy's chest and back with rubbing alcohol, it did reduce his fever. She came to pick him up-She had such a rage. The pediatrition said that some thing bad would happen- so do a witch dance, etc. I was liable to cause convulsions and was told not to touch the boy again. She remembered this like an elephant-because 2 years later the medical community went back to alcohol rubs. She talked to the doctor about my rubs-and the doctor said that they probably kept the boy from convulsions. So she apologized to me. They began using rubbing alcohol again because of convulsions and death caused the then-new fad. Then kids don't need a ton of meds in their bodies. I had a grandson that suffered greatly from allergies and even had his kidneys shut down.

Yes, he had an allergy test-got the shots and improved greatly-but not everybody can afford all of this-and in spite of all the technology used on my grandson-Vicks still gave him relief-the doctors approved of this. It's scarey and you don't know what to do when doctors practice by "FAD" and arty, and it's worse to see a child suffer.
